Having a blind dog or a pet with a disability can be challenging but it can also be very rewarding. We, the parents, have to make some adjustments and learn how to help our "kids" manage their environment better. We can also learn how to better appreciate their individual circumstances. The amazing thing about our dogs is they are so adaptive and easily remain happy and content, very little gets them down.

I have put together a lot of information on blind dogs and would love to share it with others. There are great resources on the web but few support groups.

Hi Elizabeth. I'll have to check my class schedule for March 17th, but it usually meets every Monday 6-8pm (Evanston). Too bad you weren't meeting tonight, because it is a school holiday and off. I'll check to see how the 17th looks. I would like to network more with people interested in blind dogs. I work with Blind and Deaf Australian Shepherds (called Lethal Whites or Double Merles) and hope to do more in the area soon -- www.amazingaussies.com Hope to see you soon. Nikos

Hello- I have two mini Aussies girls, "Sister" is blind and likely deaf and her sister is a blue/brown eyed sighted scaredy-dog. Sister is the explorer; no fear and they both loved the doggy beach after Nikos introduced us.

HI Elizabeth. I have a class (Evanston) until 8pm, but might be able to get out at 7:30. Any chance you can meet at 7:30 and I can make it around 8pm, missing only half an hour. If you usually meet for a few hrs, I can make the majority of the meeting? If not, I'll try to make the next meeting. Nikos

Hello. I have worked with blind/deaf australian shepherds (aka Lethal Whites) for several years, and always looking to chat with people with similar interests. Looking for people who want to use photo/video/graphic skills to help other shelters.

I have a dog named mace that was born unable to walk on his hind legs. Looking for a support group and resources to continue taking care of him.
